Reflections on the Laguna Phuket Marathon 2026: A Celebration to Remember
What an incredible weekend it was at the Laguna Phuket Marathon 2026. On 13th and 14th June 2026, runners and spectators gathered at the stunning Laguna Phuket to celebrate the remarkable 20th anniversary of the event. With over 7,000 participants—from elite athletes to enthusiastic beginners—the atmosphere was electric.
The “Run Sunset – Run Sunrise” concept was a unique experience. On Saturday evening, runners enjoyed the warmth of the setting sun during the 5KM and 10KM races, with scenic coastal views serving as a stunning backdrop. The introduction of the “2KM Junior Run” was a big hit with families, fostering an inclusive environment for the younger participants. As dawn broke on Sunday morning, runners lined up for the Half Marathon and Full Marathon. They navigated Phuket’s breathtaking landscapes, including lush tropical forests and cultural landmarks, capturing the essence of the island. The energy and passion displayed by everyone involved were nothing short of inspiring. It was heartwarming to see the spirit of inclusivity emphasised throughout the event, particularly with a dedicated age category for seniors 70 and over.
The Laguna Phuket Marathon truly brought the community together. Local entrepreneurs showcased their products, and a portion of the registration fees was donated to the Children First Fund, which supports over 400 underprivileged children in the area. The involvement of the Running Club Affiliate Program and various side activities, such as Shake-out Runs and Beach Plogging, fostered camaraderie and a sense of giving back. Mr Paul Wilson, Managing Director of Laguna Phuket and Mr Roman Floesser, Founder & CEO of Phuket Marathon Co. Ltd., highlighted the importance of providing an all-inclusive hospitality experience for participants and their families, making the event not just about racing but about community and wellbeing.
