Laguna Phuket Triathlon 2026 Returns to Inspire Athletes to Unlock New Limits
Phuket, Thailand. One race can test an athlete’s limits. A legendary course, shared by professionals and first-time competitors from around the world, can inspire something even greater: healthier lifestyles, stronger connections and a community united by the determination to keep moving forward. On Sunday, 15 November 2026, Laguna Phuket will welcome athletes of all abilities to the 32nd Laguna Phuket Triathlon at Laguna Grove, reinforcing the event’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s longest-running triathlons and one of Phuket’s most anticipated international sporting occasions.
Over more than three decades, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon has brought together professional athletes, amateur competitors, fitness enthusiasts and supporters through a shared passion for endurance sport. Its distinctive course combines the natural beauty of the Andaman Sea and Laguna Phuket’s lagoon with Phuket’s coastline, hills and local communities, creating an experience that is both physically demanding and uniquely connected to its destination. This year’s program includes the Standard Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon, Team Relay and Duathlon, providing opportunities for experienced competitors and those taking their first steps into multisport racing. With a total prize purse of USD 20,000, the event will also welcome a strong international professional field, giving participating athletes the opportunity to compete on the same course as some of the sport’s leading competitors.
For Laguna Phuket, the triathlon is more than a competition. It is an opportunity to create an inclusive sporting community where people of different ages, abilities and levels of experience can challenge themselves within the same world-class environment.
Mr. Paul Wilson, Managing Director of Laguna Phuket revealed that over the past year, Laguna Phuket has continuously developed its race management to solidify its position as an international-standard venue. Equipped with comprehensive facilities—ranging from the racecourse, management, and safety to recovery zones, healthy food, and relaxation areas specifically designed for this year’s competition, the venue is fully prepared. Furthermore, Laguna Phuket Triathlon 2026 will return as a “community” that seamlessly blends the passion for exercise, the thrill of a challenge, and a healthy lifestyle. This aligns with the global trend of people dedicating themselves to building both physical and mental strength. The race welcomes competitors of all levels, from pros to amateurs, to experience a course celebrated as one of the longest-standing triathlons in Southeast Asia.
The race weekend will begin on Saturday, 14 November 2026, with the third Laguna Phuket Open Water Swim by TriHub, held in front of SAii Laguna Phuket. Set against Phuket’s turquoise waters, the event gives participants an opportunity to build their confidence and test their open-water abilities in a carefully managed environment. Mr. Sasitat Kulsuptrakul, Managing Director of TriHub, explained that modern athletes are increasingly adopting structured, data-led approaches to training and performance measurement. With comprehensive safety standards in place, the Open Water Swim provides athletes of all levels with an outdoor challenge that allows them to explore their potential while experiencing Phuket’s natural surroundings.
Also taking place on the same day, the Charity Fun Run 6K will bring together runners, families and community members through a shared experience that combines physical activity with the opportunity to support cancer screening for women through the Kanchanabaramee Foundation.
Beyond the course, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon contributes to Phuket’s wider development as a leading sports tourism destination. By attracting athletes, supporters and visitors from Thailand and overseas, the event helps generate tourism activity, support local businesses and showcase the island’s ability to host international sporting events. Ms. Wilailuk Ruangphon, District Chief of Thalang, highlighted that the event strengthens Phuket’s image as more than a holiday destination. It demonstrates the province’s readiness to welcome athletes and fitness enthusiasts through its combination of challenging courses, natural scenery, local culture and comprehensive facilities. The event also reflects the growing interest in active travel, where visitors seek experiences that support physical health, mental wellbeing and a closer connection with their destination.
This impact is supported by continued collaboration between Laguna Phuket and organisations across the public and private sectors, including Phuket Province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited and other partner agencies. Together, these organisations help deliver international sporting experience while connecting athletes and visitors with Phuket’s communities, businesses and tourism offerings.
The Laguna Phuket Triathlon forms part of Laguna Phuket’s wider commitment to promoting active lifestyles, community wellbeing and sustainable destination development. Athletes and attendees can stay close to the race venue at participating Laguna Phuket hotels and resorts, with complimentary shuttle buses and boat services available for travel to the course. Special accommodation offers are available at Angsana Laguna Phuket, Banyan Tree Phuket, Cassia Phuket, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, HOMM Suites Laguna and SAii Laguna Phuket using the promotional code LPT2026 on the event website.
The 32nd Laguna Phuket Triathlon remains a reminder that personal progress is not defined only by records or finishing times. It is built through preparation, consistency and the courage to take on a new challenge. Whether crossing the finish line as a professional athlete, completing a first triathlon or supporting someone from the side of the course, every participant becomes part of a shared experience that extends beyond race day. When athletes return to Laguna Phuket on 15 November 2026, they will not only compete on a world-class course but also contribute to a sporting legacy that continues to inspire healthier people, stronger communities and new possibilities for Phuket.
