Together, we embarked on a project to reintroduce wild species and create ‘pocket forests’ within our integrated destination. Under the guidance of SUGi and following the Miyawaki method of afforestation, the Laguna Phuket team carefully selected secluded areas within the destination to establish self-sustaining ‘pocket forests’ in just a year. During the first phase, a total of 7,500 saplings, from 84 native tree species chosen from a survey of the last remaining virgin rainforest Khao Phra Thaew, were planted across Open Kitchen and Veya Grove.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Miyawaki forests, known for their rapid growth and low maintenance requirements after the initial years, hold immense potential for reforestation. Compared to alternative solutions, these forests grow ten times faster and are thirty times denser. Their abundant foliage provides plentiful forage for pollinators, serves as a sanctuary for birds, and creates a cool and thriving habitat for insects.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
