Laguna Shows the World Phuket is Back

Laguna Phuket has launched a "PHUKET IS BACK" campaign - supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the provincial government of Phuket– to positively reinforce the quality of the destination and encourage tourists to visit during the final months of 2005 and into 2006.
          
The campaign message is simple: Phuket is back  to normal. Occupancy levels at the five Laguna Phuket hotels support this claim, having achieved an average occupancy close to 70% during October which is considered normal for this time of year.
          
Laguna Phuket has created special branding for the PHUKET IS BACK campaign, which is displayed on three prominent billboards on  Phuket Island. The slogan has been applied to Laguna's inter-resort shuttle buses, plus seven  45-seat staff buses that roam the Island like mobile billboards. Laguna's website ww.lagunaphuket.com also features the branding.  
          
However, Laguna expects the major impact to result from the distribution of souvenir PHUKET IS BACK wrist bands which have been produced as give-aways for guests, staff, travel industry partners, media, VIPs, celebrities, etc. The wrist bands will  also be distributed at Laguna's corporate booths at the Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) trade show held in Pattaya in October, London's World Travel Mart in November and the ASEAN Travel Forum in January. The wrist bands are available in four sizes and two colours, and can also be purchased for 40 Baht at the Laguna Travel & Tours office in Canal Village Laguna Shopping centre.  
          
The PHUKET IS BACK campaign branding will be reinforced through a series of events commencing with the opera 'Carmen' performed by the European Chamber Opera in October at Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, a PHUKET IS BACK Party in November celebrating the anniversary of Laguna Phuket, to be followed by the annual Laguna Phuket Triathlon in December. All with the objective of bringing positive attention to the destination.            
 
The PHUKET IS BACK Party will be a very special event, hosted by Laguna Resorts & Hotels' Chairman, Mr. Ho Kwon Ping with Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsavali Kitiyakara and His Excellency, Khun Udomsak Usawarangkura, Governor of Phuket as guests of honour. Some 200-300 guests including several VIPs, ambassadors, celebrities, corporate leaders, travel industry executives and media will attend the invitation only event at the Dusit Laguna Resort on 29 November. The evening will mark the official launch of Laguna's PHUKET IS BACK campaign and celebrate the anniversary of the founding of Laguna Phuket with the opening of Dusit Laguna on 25 November, 1987.    
 
The following week, Laguna Phuket will welcome approximately 1000 athletes to compete in the twelfth annual Thai Airways Laguna Phuket Triathlon and Fun Run to be held on 4 December.  600 athletes are expected to enter the Triathlon, either as individuals or part of a 3-person relay team, and there is capacity for 400 Fun Runners. We anticipate this to be the largest field ever at Laguna - a sure sign that PHUKET IS BACK.
