Quest’s “Sightseeing with a Purpose” Amazing RaceMedia Release Proving that business and pleasure can most definitely be mixed, Quest specialises in tailoring corporate team building events that combine fun with a serious purpose. The most recent outing of its popular “Amazing Race” was staged in Phuket recently for 100 regional managers of Dow Agrosciences Asia from a spread of countries across the region. “Amazing Race” is a multi-challenge adventure race, and this event with a Thai twist began at the Hilton Arcadia Resort & Spa with participants taken through a series of energising activities before being grouped into 10 teams and briefed for the afternoon race. Each team was issued with a Survival Kit containing maps, coded navigational clues, a shopping list and money, and given their transport - a local “Songthaew” (two-bench) public bus and driver – before setting off on a course around Karon, Patong and Kathu to find a series of six stations and complete a variety of challenges at each one. Along the way, they had to visit local markets and use the shopping list and money to collect ingredients for their final challenge back at the hotel - to create the popular local dish “Somtam,” a spicy papaya salad. The winning team gathered the most points for completion of course challenges, as well as the taste, presentation and authenticity of its Somtam. “We design our Amazing Race events to be a mix of corporate teambuilding and immersion in local culture,” explains Quest regional manager Alun Gathergood. “ It’s sightseeing with a purpose.” Event: Quest’s Amazing Race Phuket Group size: 100 Organiser: Quest Venue: Hilton Arcadia Resort & Spa, and surrounding areas Date: 1 March 2012 |
