Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket celebrates its 9th annual tennis Doubles Tournament 2011
Phuket, Thailand – Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket held its ninth charitable tennis doubles tournament on 17-19 June 2011. This successful event was a social meeting point of colleagues in the hospitality industry, as well as their families, local tennis pros and friends who flew in from Songkha province to participate.
This was the fundraising tournament's ninth year at Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket. Proceeds from this year's event go towards purchasing essential items, sports equipment and stationery for students affected by recent flooding in neighbouring Krabi province.
"I've been watching some of the matches over the competition's three days and I am very proud of all the players and also our sports and recreation team for organising the event. Everyone played their hearts out, although it's not all about winning; most importantly, I think the participants shared some great moments. I would like to thank our sports and recreation team for making this happen", said Mr Peter Komposch, General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket.
Mr Komposch presented trophies to the winners at the award ceremony on the final day. The winning team in the general category comprised Mr Chatri Mahudthanadul, a frozen seafoods importer, and his doubles partner Mr Kornkrit Chatwongwiwat, an officer from the Marine Department of Songkha, Thailand. The winners of the hotel category were Mr Venice Sighakarn and Mr Suwit Kuruwong, a local tennis pro from nearby Amanpuri Resort.
