Dream Wedding on Thai Paradise Island Stirs Emotions

Media Release

Wayne and Asha Henry’s married life began in unforgettable fashion with a dream wedding on an exotic Thai paradise island, after the couple won a competition to win a wedding overseas at the NEC Wedding Show in October, 2008.   Their prize was a romantic wedding at Laguna Phuket - and a year later they arrived at the luxury resort on the north-west coast of Phuket for a wedding that proved to be full of emotion for the bride and groom, as well as family and friends who travelled with them to Thailand for the occasion.

Wayne and Asha’s prize included accommodation at the Laguna Beach Resort, a luxurious beachfront hotel which is one of seven deluxe hotel and villa properties at Laguna Phuket, Asia’s premier destination resort.

The couple from Great Barr in Birmingham took their vows in Laguna Phuket’s stunning Chapel-on-the-Lagoon, a glass-sided chapel on stilts floating serenely above a west-facing tropical lagoon.

The marriage ceremony and reception both featured a stunning white, gold and pink colour theme chosen by the couple and incorporated into room decorations and wedding motifs by Laguna Phuket.

“It was our dream wedding, the day was perfect in every sense of the word,” said Asha. “Both the chapel and hotel staff were simply amazing, attending to our every need.

“The chapel was decorated in white and pink flowers complementing the theme of our wedding outfits, the chairs had white bows, and pink and white flower petals were sprinkled on the floor.

“The chapel itself was so white it looked as if it was glowing in the sunshine. The glass walls meant you could see almost 360 degrees around and the scenery was just to die for.”

After signing the marriage certificate in the chapel, Wayne and Asha took their first steps as man and wife down the aisle and outside, to where champagne and a wedding cake were ready and waiting.

The celebrations included a photo session with a Thai elephant and fixing a wedding plaque engraved with their names to the chapel’s commemorative memorial board - unique touches on a truly memorable day.

Their reception at Laguna Beach Resort continued the colour theme with decorations of balloons and butterflies in white, gold and pink.

Asha said: “At the start everything was full of love and laughter, but when it came to the speeches things soon changed, and the majority of the guests were unable to finish their speeches owing to tears of love and joy.   “The past few years have been very hard for both our families. There have been a number of deaths, ill health – including Wayne – as well as just general hard times, so for all of us to be there in Phuket together celebrating this amazing day was just an overwhelming experience.”

Laguna Phuket’s unique Chapel-On-the-Lagoon provides a variety of wedding packages that can be individually tailored for couples seeking an unforgettable marriage in exotic surroundings.   For further information visit
