Winermaker Dinner with Maurizio Felluga at Banyan Tree Phuket

Media Release

Phuket, Thailand, March 2009Banyan Tree Phuket and Wine & Taste recently held an exclusive winemaker dinner featuring Italian winemaker, Maurizio Felluga of Colli Orientali del Friuli vineyard, on Saturday evening, March 7, 2009 in the fine dining restaurant Tre’

Inspired by the family which has now been making wine for five generations. Maurizio Felluga has been making Picolit, a supremely complex, warm and mellow wine that harmoniously unites sweetness and tangy acidity. A true “meditation wine”, Picolit is as subtle and precious as the old gold it evokes in the glass. Special attention is devoted to red wines, such as Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Merlot, which find their finest expression in the Riserva version of the Sossò vineyard selection. In fact, it would be fair to say that “wine has always put bread on their table”, Felluga added.

For the dinner at Tre, Felluga was pouring an array of his best 2004 wines including Rosenplatz 2006, Chadonnay Pinot Grigio 2007, Sauvignon 2007, Vertigo 2006 and Sosso 2004.

Complementing the elegance and depth of each of these wines, Banyan Tree Phuket’s Executive Chefs Alex Nassar and Stefan Trepp, presented a sumptuous multi - course pairing menu reflecting the finest flavors of the fall season. This event marked Felluga's first visit to Banyan Tree Phuket, and the event was a sell
out success.
