Laguna Phuket Hotels Top in Asia Pacific

Media Release

Laguna Phuket is proud to announce that two of its leading hotels - Banyan Tree Phuket and Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket - have scored first and second ranking amongst the top five resort hotels in Asia-Pacific.
In fact, the readers of Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Magazine have voted  both hotels amongst Asia-Pacific’s top five resort hotels for five consecutive years from 2001-2005.
In 2001, Banyan Tree Phuket ranked number two and from 2002 onwards has occupied the top spot, while Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket raised its rank from fifth to now be number two after Banyan Tree Phuket.
This remarkable achievement, made within nine  short months since the events of December 2004, is a true testament to the resilience of Phuket as a destination  and the quality of the hotels at Laguna Phuket. Considering the excellent standards of the leading resort hotels in Asia-Pacific, it is quite a significant fact that the top two hotels are located right next door to each other within the magnificent Laguna Phuket resort complex, and owned by the same company, Laguna Resorts & Hotels Public Company.
Not one to rest on its laurels, Banyan Tree Phuket continues to grow and nurture its guests with truly opulent accommodations. The resort is currently building an additional 36 high-end luxury villas including 14 Two-Bedroom Pool Villas and its new top category Water Villas, offering extravagant accommodations coupled with private butler service.
In the very near future Banyan Tree Phuket will introduce Spa Ryokan Pavilions, offering Rain Mist Treatments and after-dinner massage with overnight stays.
Always looking to the future and striving for continued excellence, Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket has invested approximately US$10 million to improve its services and facilities.
Over 90% of the hotel’s total room inventory  is either newly-renovated or brand new and enhancements have been made to restaurants and public areas.
Recently the hotel added brand new three- and four-bedroom Golf Pool Villas and Residences all with private pools, to their room inventory making the Sheraton Grande Laguna one of the very first in the region to venture into management of off-site home-style residences - a new standard in luxury holiday living.
The hotel has completely renovated its 36 two-storey Lagoon Villas, transforming them from 'traditional' to a unique 'urban-contemporary' feel that exudes luxury and romance. The property is renovating all guest rooms and will unveil 45 brand new Grande Rooms in early 2006, increasing its inventory of luxury rooms and villas to 400.
