The ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) football broadcasting team visited Laguna Phuket on 25-27 July to:
Raise approximately THB 750,000 to support a charita ble cause / CSR initiative:
The Laguna Phuket Social Committee have identified and researched a school in Phang Nga Province, Ban Klongsai School, which is in desperate need of renovation works to improve hygiene and safety standards.
- Constructed in 1975, the school premises have fallen prey to damage by seasonal flooding, termites and general age.
- Roofs and support structures are weakening and are at risk of collapse.
- There is one functional toilet for use by all 102 students and 9 teachers and administrative staff.
- The school library lacks even basic reading materials.
- The computer and media room lacks working equipment.
- Exposed electrical wiring and outlets pose a serious safety risk to the students.
The Laguna Social Committee aims to establish an ongoing initiative to support under-funded schools. Laguna will oversee the work required and arrange for our own employees to have ‘hands-on’ personal involvement in the renovation projects.

Charity Auction

During the Charity Dinner on 26 July, guests had an opportunity to bid in both Live and Silent auctions for signed sports and entertainment memorabilia plus other prizes. All proceeds will go towards the Ban Klongsai School restoration project.

The students of Ban Klongsai School need your help.
The ESS Celebrity Golf Tournament and Dinner is intended to raise money to help restore the Ban Klongsai School in Phang Nga province. Everyone’s help is needed as the total funds required to complete all renovation works is approximately 3 million Baht.
If you were unable to attend the main charity event on 26 July 2008, it is still possible to get involved with the reconstruction of the school by pledging a donation.
