Date:   Saturday 1st October 2022
Time:   08:30 am – 09:30 am
Place:  Boat Avenue Intersection, Laguna Phuket Entrance

Hotel guests are welcome and the FREE Laguna shuttle bus can escort them to the venue from their hotel lobby.

What you and the guests can experience?

  • Observe the cultural beliefs. The devotees had body parts pierced with objects like skewers and swords as a way to express their gratitude to the gods as well as get rid of their bad luck. They don’t feel pain as they are perforated as “mediums” and believe they have a personal connection with one of the gods.
  • Clothing and dressing like a local: recommended attire is white colour, or white top with light color trousers or skirt.

About the Vegetarian Festival

The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is an annual nine-day event celebrating the Chinese community’s belief that abstinence from meat and various stimulants during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar will help them obtain good health and peace of mind.

Celebrations will be taking place at all Chinese shrines around the island. To get the most out of this event, you must visit some of the major and oldest shrines in Phuket which are Cherng Talay, Kathu Shrine, Bang Niew, Jui Tui and Put Jaw.
